A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Sheltair broke ground this week on an expansion of its FBO at Orlando Executive Airport (KORL) in Florida.&nbsp;The $16 million project—slated for completion by the end of 2025—will add approximately 62,000 sq ft of hangar space capable of sheltering ultra-long-range business jets and office space.
Since 2003, the family-owned company has added more than 182,000 sq ft of improvements at KORL, including a <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2019-05-23/sheltair-improves-east-coast-us-fbos">new terminal</a> in 2019. This latest addition will bring the facility to nearly 430,000 sq ft of hangars and offices.
Hangar 18—at 32,956 sq ft—will be designed to serve as an MRO facility, while 32,504-sq-ft Hangar 19 will add to the facility's community aircraft storage tally.
“We are truly grateful for the support we have received from the [Greater Orlando Aviation Authority] board and staff throughout this process and the 21-year tenure that we have enjoyed at the Orlando Executive Airport,” said Tony Sherbert, the Florida-based service provider’s senior v-p of real estate. “In addition to supporting jobs and driving economic activity for this city, this will position Sheltair and [KORL] to meet the evolving needs of the aviation community in Central Florida and maintain [KORL’s] status as a premier destination for aircraft owners and operators.”
