A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Embraer’s executive aviation division improved on its first-quarter deliveries, handing over 27 Phenoms and Praetors in the second quarter of the year for a total of 45 business jets in the first half of 2024. That represents a more than 18% increase over the first half of 2023.
While first-half shipments of Phenom 100 light jets remained static year over year at three, the Brazilian airframer ramped up the pace of its larger Phenom 300, delivering 28—six more than last year. Handovers of midsize Praetor 500 remained unchanged at six in the first half, while it delivered eight super-midsize Praetor 600s, one more than in the first six months of 2023.
The division ended the first half with a $4.6 billion backlog and a positive book-to-bill ratio. It has forecast total deliveries for the year in the range of 125 to 135 business jets.
On the commercial side, the OEM improved on its first-half 2023 output by two airliners, with deliveries of 11 E195E2s, four E190-E2s, and 11 E175s. It delivered its 1,800th E-Jet in May, and the backlog for the commercial division stands at 382 aircraft, worth&nbsp;$11.3 billion—a 2% increase over the first quarter.
In addition, the company’s services and support division reported a backlog of $3.1 billion. Altogether, Embraer's backlog totals more than $21 billion, a seven-year high.
