ABS StartStick is marking the 2,500th delivery of its ground power units (GPUs) over the last decade. StartSticks weigh between 10 and 20 pounds and provide enough ground power for multiple starts in single- and twin-engine aircraft.

Using a GPU facilitates cooler and faster starts, lessens engine wear, and enhances main battery performance, according to the company. The StartStick 20 “allows FBOs and operators improved efficiencies and self-reliance with the latest ground support equipment on the ramp," according to Paul Ross, Jr., the company's global business director.

The StartStick is available for most civil helicopter models, including those from Airbus, Bell, and Leonardo.
