Metro Aviation recently delivered the second of three customized Airbus H125 helicopters to the Baltimore Police Department’s aviation unit. The custom completions feature an aft tactical flight officer (TFO) station that mirrors the forward TFO station in the cockpit. The aft TFO station allows officers sitting in the back to monitor mapping systems and control the monitor’s downlink and LoJack automobile locator systems.

The completion also includes the Shotover augmented reality mapping system that combines street names, intersections, direction of travel, and speed on a single display, giving TFOs the freedom to stay focused on their target and optimize situational awareness. Each aircraft also is equipped with a Wescam MX-10 imaging system, Vislink downlink system, Macro-Blue tactical displays, and a Spectrolab Nightsun spotlight.

“Every customer is different, and we treat each law enforcement completion as a unique customization that fits the unit’s profile,” said Amy McMullen, Metro's customer configuration coordinator. “We pride ourselves on offering the exact solutions our customers need and want. The aft TFO was a must-have for the Baltimore Police Department and our engineering and production teams were able to design exactly what they needed for their requirements.”
