A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

GlobalSelect, the sole FBO at Houston-area Sugar Land Regional Airport (KSGR) has opened a 38,600-sq-ft hangar that brings the airport-operated facility to more than 82,000 sq ft of aircraft storage space. The $6.3 million project was the result of an FAA edict&nbsp;to remove an&nbsp;existing 40,000-sq-ft hangar as part of the $30 million relocation of 8,000-foot Taxiway A.
The replacement was designed with exterior features such as stucco-treated metal panels and a stone façade to integrate with the nearby 20,000-sq-ft FBO terminal. Its east-facing wall includes a series of 24-foot-tall arched windows so drivers on State Highway 6 can view the aircraft while stopped at the intersection. The interior is lit by energy-efficient, high-bay LED lights, while the five doors at the hangar opening can be opened independently or all at the same time to provide the line crew flexibility when moving aircraft. In addition, 70 new valet parking spaces are secured behind an access gate.
“We could have built another gray metal hangar like so many others, but asked ourselves, ‘why not be relentless trailblazers and create something spectacular?’” said Elizabeth Rosenbaum, director of aviation at KSGR. “This hangar is one of the many very recently completed projects that demonstrate our embrace of positive change.”
KSGR is also home to a 140,000-sq-ft Sky Harbour <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2020-08-20/private-hangar-complex-set-open">private hangar complex</a>.
