Embraer saw its executive jet deliveries edge up to 93 units in 2021, even as its fourth-quarter results slid year-over-year. Following a pattern that has occurred with many of the business jet makers, Embraer’s totals for executive jet shipments were up by seven units in 2021, up from the 86 shipped a year earlier. But fourth-quarter totals fell four units short of those in the last three months of 2020 when business jet makers were catching up from deliveries delayed earlier in the year as a result of the pandemic.
In the most recent quarter, Embraer delivered 26 light jets—four Phenom 100s and 22 Phenom 300s. This compares with 23 Phenoms shipped fourth-quarter 2020, including a single Phenom 100 and 22 Phenom 300s.
The Brazilian manufacturer, meanwhile, reported seven fewer shipments, for a total of 13 in the latest fourth quarter, in its larger aircraft line comprising the Praetor 500 (eight deliveries) and Praetor 600 (five deliveries). A year earlier, when Embraer was completing its transition from the Legacy 450/500 to the Praetor 500/600, it delivered a single Legacy 500, six Praetor 500s, and 13 Praetor 600s, for a total of 20.
For all of 2021, Embraer delivered 62 Phenoms (six Phenom 100s and 56 Phenom 300s) and 31 Praetors (14 Praetor 500s and 17 Praetor 600s). This is in comparison with the 56 Phenoms (six Phenom 100s and 50 Phenom 300s) and 30 Legacy/Praetors (a single copy of the Legacy 650 and 500 each, along with 10 Praetor 500s and 18 Praetor 600s) shipped in 2020.
Embraer’s fourth quarter was boosted by an agreement signed with NetJets for up to 100 additional Phenom 300s. Deliveries under the latest agreement, which is valued on the high end at $1.2 billion, are to begin in the second quarter of 2023 to NetJets’ fleets in both the U.S. and Europe. The quarter was also marked by a couple of milestone deliveries, including the first Phenom 300E in Ecuador and the first Praetor 500 in Canada to fractional ownership provider AirSprint Private Aviation.
Combined with its other business lines, Embraer reported that its firm backlog reached $17 billion by the end of the year, its highest total since the second quarter of 2018.
