MRO provider AMAC Aerospace has completed a year-long project that added a fifth hangar for business jet maintenance to its site at EuroAirport in Basel, Switzerland. The primarily wood-construction hangar measures 52,205 sq ft (4,850 sq m), with six doors spanning 394 feet (120 m).
Included in the new hangar is a component and calibration shop, Bombardier maintenance supervisor’s office, Bombardier maintenance planning office, window repair shop, and sound testing shop. It will support a variety of business aircraft, including Bombardier Global 7500s and Gulfstream G650/G650ERs, as well as Pilatus PC-12s and PC-24s.
“We are proud to have managed this project successfully in this demanding time,” said AMAC group COO Bernd Schramm. “The hangar will be dedicated to midsize jet maintenance and can accommodate up to seven midsize jets. The maintenance services for these types of aircraft were always high in demand and is steadily increasing.”
Schramm added that, with the additional hangar capacity, AMAC will be able to substantially reduce its lead times on business jet maintenance. Along with the new hangar, AMAC added 322,917 sq ft of apron.
