Women in Aviation International has joined the growing list of organizations bringing their early 2021 events online, announcing plans to host the 32nd annual International Women in Aviation Conference virtually on March 11 and 12.
Registration and agenda details will be forthcoming, WAI said, but added the event will include all of the content that the in-person conference typically brings: educational sessions, keynote speakers, personal and professional development seminars and workshops, scholarship winners, Pioneer Hall of Fame induction, and networking opportunities. In addition, the 2021 WAI will feature a virtual exhibit hall.
“The safety and wellbeing of our members, partners, exhibitors, attendees, and staff is our first priority,” said WAI CEO Allison McKay. “We had hoped to gather in-person next year, but as we continued to monitor and follow the local and state recommendations and guidelines for Reno, Nevada, not to mention the growing impact of Covid-19 worldwide, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our in-person event.”
McKay added that it considered the feedback of members and exhibitors in making the decision, along with monitoring worldwide trends. “Similar to our virtual Girls in Aviation Day that reached participants in 58 countries, WAI is confident that our virtual event will enable us to reach more of our members and interested participants around the world than we might have with an in-person event,” she said.
