Six current and aspiring certified aviation managers (CAMs) received scholarships from NBAA this week at NBAA-BACE 2019.
Edward Hurst, aviation captain and training manager for Sony Aviation, received the C&W Family Scholarship. Awarded by NBAA Charities and the C&W Family, this scholarship grants $2,500 to one business aviation professional seeking continued professional development opportunities to advance their existing careers.
The Jake Cartwright Leadership Scholarship, underwritten by Solairus Aviation and named in honor of Solairus vice chairman Jake Cartwright, was awarded to Thomas Smallen, a senior captain and training officer for Tyson Foods.
Four individuals received scholarships designed to benefit individuals seeking to become CAMs or renewing their CAM certification. The 2019 CAM Scholarship recipients are Case May, general manager of managed aircraft for Airshare; Patrick Beuerlein, flight coordinator for Outpost International; Bradley Brittell, maintenance supervisor for Solairus Aviation; and Jessica Rowden, customer service lead for Cutter Aviation.
Accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, NBAA’s CAM certification provides an industry standard for preparation and achievement in aviation management. The CAM exam is available throughout the year in a computer-based testing format. To be eligible for the exam, participating must be pre-qualified and approved through a formal application process.
