Donaldson Filters New Medium Twins
The company was tapped to provide inlet barrier filters for the Bell 525 and Airbus H160, both awaiting certification.

Donaldson Aerospace & Defense has delivered its first advanced filtration systems for the new medium-twin Bell 525 Relentless, including transmission oil assemblies and inlet barrier filters (IBF).

The oil filter assemblies protect the rotorcraft’s gearboxes, engines, and auxiliary power unit from dirt, salt, sand, and other contaminants. On the yet-to-be-certified Relentless, they are installed on the main and tail rotors, as well as the intermediate and reduction gearboxes. Its IBFs are mounted on the aircraft’s twin GE CT7-2F1 powerplants, as well as on the Honeywell RE100 APU. Designed specifically for the 525, the IBF is available as a factory option, or later as a retrofit kit.

The Minnesota-based company (Booth B4312) has also begun production on an IBF for Airbus Helicopters new mid-twin H160, which like that on the 525, will also be available either through factory installation or as a retrofit.

“Bell and Airbus’ selection of Donaldson advanced filtration systems for factory installation illustrates the manufacturer’s trust and confidence in the value of our products for their customers,” said Lars Hesbjerg, the company's global sales director. “As these aircraft get closer to certification, we’re looking forward to increasing delivery for future orders.”
