Inmarsat (Booth 841) has appointed Kai Tang senior vice president of business and general aviation (BGA). Tang previously served as chief commercial officer for Inmarsat government and has been with the company for seven years.
He also helped to develop the company’s Global Xpress program and was division director for Navy shipboard satellite communications. Tang will be responsible for the company’s portfolio of connectivity services and will also oversee the launch of the company’s European aviation network, which Inmarsat said is the first in-flight broadband system in the world to combine satellite coverage with a complementary LTE-based ground network.
“Kai has made a huge contribution to Inmarsat since he joined seven years ago,” said Philip Balaam, president of Inmarsat aviation. “Through his experience with the U.S. Navy, and Inmarsat government, and working closely with our channel partners, Kai brings a broad skill set and range of experience that I have no doubt will be of great value as we continue to build on the success of our BGA business.”
