Cerulean Aviation, the airport-operated FBO at South Carolina’s Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP), has opened a pair of new heated hangars. The $14.5 million project included a 20,000-sq-ft corporate hangar currently leased by Michelin North America and a 34,000-sq-ft tenant and transient aircraft storage hangar, which is now home to 11 based corporate jets and can accommodate aircraft up to a Global 7000.
“These new hangar facilities reinforce our mission to provide convenient and user-friendly services to support air transportation in the upstate,” explained GSP president and CEO Dave Edwards at last week’s ribbon-cutting ceremony. “The project also helps us extend additional customer service to those using our fixed-based operator services."
The airport took over control of the FBO last year after deciding not to renew its lease with Stevens Aviation, which had operated the lone service facility there since the airport’s opening in 1962. With the new additions, the facility more than doubled its hangar space.
