Lee Aerospace is introducing a new window technology, dubbed CoolView, during its debut appearance at EAA AirVenture this week. A window replacement, CoolView blocks up to 62 percent of infrared rays and virtually all UV rays, resulting in a cooler cabin. The company has PMA approval for installation of CoolView on King Air turboprops and Hawker business jets.

The CoolView process involves production of an internal metallic barrier instead of an external coating that could potentially wear off or need to be reapplied. According to Lee Aerospace, CoolView will not suffer from wear or the need for reapplication as the process remains part of the window's construction. While providing a cooler cockpit and cabin, CoolView protection also reduces pilot fatigue and preserves aircraft interiors, the company said.

Lee Aerospace operates an FAA-certified repair station and can provide CoolView replacement installations around the globe. The company has other PMAs in process and said CoolView can always be added as an option to any OEM production transparency, if needed.
