Luxury carpet company Scott Group Studio has introduced its latest aviation and yachting collection, Turas, and announced plans to further expand its residential carpet designs into the high-end airborne and maritime markets. Created by the company’s Custom Carpets division, which features all hand-tufted rugs, the designs are made at Scott’s Grand Rapids, Michigan factory.
Taking its name from the Irish word for "journey," the new line’s patterns borrow elements suggested by forms including ancient symbols, irregular cracks in glaciers, and the ocean's currents. Each design in the 11-piece Turas collection, “inspired by different cultures exploring their own world of travel and movement,” is composed of a silk and wool blend and can be customized to interior cabin furnishings of any style and scale, according to the company.
The company, which marks it’s 50th anniversary next year, has nine design showrooms across the U.S. Going forward, the Scott Group “will be making many of its collections to work for both residential design and aviation and yachting,” said a company spokesperson. “So you could have the same rug in your home and in your private transportation.”
