Hawthorne Global Aviation Services has broken ground on a major office/hangar addition at its Chicago Executive Airport FBO. The $6 million, 33,000-sq-ft structure will double the location’s aircraft storage space when it opens this fall on the northern side of the existing terminal, just off Taxiway Charlie.

“In the four years since we opened our FBO here at Chicago Executive, the number of corporate flight departments and aircraft that are based with us has grown to a point that we need a dedicated office/hangar facility for their use that is separate from our transient customers,” said David Annin, the facility’s general manager. “Whether they are a tenant or transient aircraft, our customers expect the best passenger and crew experience. Having two dedicated facilities will enable us to continue to deliver the service they expect from Hawthorne.”

The Shell-branded facility, one of three service providers on the field and one of six Hawthorne Global FBOs (all in the U.S.), offers on-demand U.S. Customs, courtesy cars, shuttle, 10-seat conference room, pilots' lounge with flight-planning area, and concierge service, among other amenities.
