Greece’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) introduced a new rule late last month requiring charter flights on non EU-registered aircraft with up to 19 seats to apply for an annual TCO license with its Air Operations Directorate before operating to and from the country. According to Flight Service Bureau (FSB), this requirement is in addition to having to obtain the standard landing permit, as well as the TCO approval from EASA.
As handling in Greece is mandatory, the Greek authorities decided to distribute the information to all handling agents and aviation service providers in country to allow them to notify their customers directly. FSB noted that while an English version of the new rule has not yet been published (it provides a translation of the document here) the CAA said that it will be updated at some point.
Operators cannot apply for the new TCO license directly; instead, they must work through a “legal representative in Greece,” which can be a handling agent, allowing at least five working days to obtain the license if all paperwork is in order.
