Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

NBAA recently released a formal two-page statement,<a href="https://www.nbaa.org/admin/registration/ethical-business-aviation-transactions/nbaa-ethical-business-aviation-transactions.pdf"> “Ethical Business Aviation Transactions,”</a> designed to serve as a resource for best practices. The statement addresses a handful of major themes: honest and ethical conduct; conflicts of interests; company funds and other assets; business records; and compliance with state, federal, and international laws.

 


Developed by a varied group of business aviation professionals, the statement is not intended as a replacement for a company’s own ethics policies. The statement is solely focused on business aviation transactions, while a company’s policy might deal with broader concerns, said Jad Donaldson, NBAA's Business Aviation Management Committee chair and director of aviation at Harley-Davidson. Rather, NBAA is hoping that the statement will be viewed as a general approach to best practices.

 


The statement can provide a starting point for companies without ethics policies and be used to foster discussion, NBAA noted. It can also serve as a tool to encourage ethical behavior industry-wide, it added.

 


“Embracing a culture of ethical behavior supports NBAA’s mission to foster an environment that allows business aviation to thrive in the U.S. and around the world,” the association said. “By retaining a positive image, both within the community and among the public at large, business aviation will succeed and grow.”
