Garmin G1000NXi Avionics OK’d for Piper M500
G1000NXi features wireless cockpit connectivity, enhanced situational awareness, visual approaches, and map overlay on the horizontal situation indicator.

Piper Aircraft has received FAA approval for the next-generation Garmin G1000NXi integrated flight deck on both its M500 turboprop single and M350 pressurized piston single. It will also offer the avionics as a retrofit option for in-service G1000-equipped models including the Matrix, Mirage/M350, and Meridian/M500 later this year.

The G1000NXi features enhanced situational awareness, visual approaches, and map overlay on the horizontal situation indicator. In addition, the updated system’s faster processing power supports improved map rendering and smoother display panning. Optional features include SurfaceWatch, Flight Stream 510 wireless gateway, and improved ADS-B options.

According to Piper president and CEO Simon Caldecott, the G1000NXi avionics further enhance Piper’s M-class aircraft as the “value leaders” in the market place. “NXi equipped M-class products are now being delivered as we continue our focus on completing the NXi STC for fielded G1000 equipped M-class products,” he added. In addition to the M-class, the Seneca V piston twin will be upgraded later this year to G1000NXi.
