Barimo To Become Next ARSA President
Barimo, who will serve a one-year term, brings association knowledge and three decades of aviation experience to his new leadership role on the ARSA board.

The Aeronautical Repair Station Association’s (ARSA) board of directors has elected Basil Barimo, the COO of Coral Gables, Florida-based aviation sales and services company AerSale, to a one-year term as president. Barimo, who has been the 2017 vice president for the association, was elected during the board’s recent annual meeting.

Barimo brings three decades of aviation experience to his new leadership role at ARSA. He began his career in 1987 as an aerospace engineer with McDonnell Douglas and later held roles with U.S. Airways and AvBorne Heavy Maintenance. He became knowledgeable about the role of associations through his work as vice president of operations and safety at the then Air Transport Association (now Airlines for America).

Barimo became a member of ARSA’s board after taking a role with the Nordam Group. He joined AerSale this year.

He is succeeding Warner Calvo, director of quality and safety at Coopesa, R.L, who will remain on the board as a representative of international members. Also during the meeting, the board elected Dave Latimer, vice president of regulatory compliance for HAECO Americas, the next vice president and Ian Cheyne, chief technical and regulatory officer of Dallas Airmotive, treasurer.
