Those attending the NBAA Regional Forum tomorrow at New Jersey’s Morristown Municipal Airport (MMU) are being encouraged by the association to bring donations for victims of Hurricane Harvey, as well as for additional relief missions that might be needed in the coming weeks as Hurricanes Irma and Jose head toward the U.S. As in past crises, the business aviation community has mobilized in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey to coordinate pilots, aircraft, flight-planning services and other assets to move relief and supplies into the disaster area.
“Stations will be arranged at the forum where attendees will be able to drop off much needed supplies or make financial contributions, so NBAA can work with business aviation relief organizations to get the supplies to those who need them most,” said NBAA vice president of operational excellence and professional development Mike Nichols.
NBAA’s regional forums bring together local business aircraft owners, operators, manufacturers, customers and other business aviation professionals to share knowledge, discuss regional issues and learn how business aviation can help companies succeed and provide humanitarian assistance. Regarding the latter, NBAA has developed the Humanitarian Emergency Response Operator (HERO) database to collect volunteered aircraft assets and individual volunteers that can be shared with relief organizations in the wake of natural disasters.
