Scottsdale Begins $27M Biz Center, Hangar Project
Project at Scottsdale Airport to include large bizjet hangar space.

Arizona's Scottsdale Airport began the demolition of its terminal building last week to make room for a $27 million redevelopment project that will include a 24,000-sq-ft aviation business center and more than 67,000 sq ft of hangar and support space. In addition to a new restaurant, veterans’ memorial, U.S. Customs office, meeting rooms and public plaza, the project includes two 30,000-sq-ft hangars, each with direct runway access and 28-foot-high and 120-foot-wide doors to accommodate tall-tail aircraft such as the Gulfstream G650 and Bombardier Global Express.

Aircraft management and charter company Gemini Air Group will lease and operate the entire hangar complex and private fuel facility, offering hangar space for lease with on-site Part 145 repair station capability and reduced fuel prices. Because Gemini will not operate as an FBO, aircraft must lease hangar space for a minimum of six months to receive reduced fuel prices, according to Gemini owner Tim Carpay, who expects to fill the hangars by the time construction finishes in May.
