Embraer delivered 24 business jets in the most recent quarter, down from the 26 jets in second quarter of 2016 and deliveries are down by more than 20 percent in the first half of the year. But the mix of jets reflected a strengthening of its large jet segment, boosted by its Legacy 450s. The company delivered eight of its large jets in the second quarter, compared with three a year ago. The Legacy 450 accounted for half of the deliveries in the most recent quarter. Embraer also handed over three Legacy 500s, the same as in both second quarter 2016 and second quarter 2015. The remaining delivery involved a Legacy 650.
At the same time, Phenom deliveries slid from 23 in second quarter of 2016 to 16—12 Phenom 300s and four Phenom 100s—in the most recent quarter. The Phenom 100 accounted for half of those delivered during the same period last year.
The dip in the second quarter continues an overall sluggishness in the market for Embraer. During the first six months, deliveries have dropped by 10 units, to 39. This decline is reflected in both large- and light-jet shipments. Large-jet deliveries are down by two units, to 12, while light-jet deliveries declined by eight aircraft, to 27.
While deliveries slid, the quarter contained several highlights for Embraer’s Executive Jets unit, including the delivery of the 1,100th aircraft, the sale of three Legacy 650Es to the variant’s launch customer Air Hamburg and deliveries of the initial Phenom 100EVs.
