Vision Systems Aerospace (Booth Y118) announced here at EBACE that it has reached an agreement with PPG to develop new applications for Vision Systems’s electronically dimmable window shades for general aviation, as well as commercial and military aircraft. Both companies have considerable experience supplying electronically dimmable window shading systems, such as Vision Systems’s Nuance V2 and PPG’s Alteos interactive window systems and Opticor advanced transparency material.
Vision Systems’s dimmable windows can be controlled individually by seatside wired or wireless interfaces or cabin-wide through a cabin window management system. They respond instantly to changing light transmittance and have no size limitations relative to aircraft transparency applications. The dimming system is based on suspended-particle device film technology and an interlayer that provides 100 percent clarity and 99.6 percent blockage of visible light.
“PPG is excited to work with Vision Systems to create new applications for a product that provides unique performance characteristics,” said Brent Wright, PPG global business director for aerospace transparencies. “As a pioneer in the electrochromatic window segment, PPG recognized the added value offered by Vision Systems to the standard dimmable film technology, especially with the interface that makes its system work.”
