Advent Wins STC for PC-12 Anti-skid Braking System
The STC applies to all PC-12s equipped with a Waas-enabled GPS, including those with Honeywell Apex or Garmin or IS&S GPS units.

Advent Aircraft Systems eABS anti-skid braking system has been STC’d by the U.S. FAA for the Pilatus PC-12, the company announced yesterday. The STC applies to all PC-12s equipped with a Waas-enabled GPS, including those with the Honeywell Apex avonics system or Garmin or IS&S GPS units.

The eABS weighs just 27 pounds installed, comes with all required installation hardware and requires no changes to the existing PC-12 brake system. List price for the PC-12 eABS is $50,604, not including installation at an Advent-authorized dealer.

According to Advent, eABS provides: improved braking in all runway conditions without the risk of flat-spotted or blown tires; an alternative to reverse thrust, reducing prop erosion and the risk of FOD ingestion; and the capability to "confidently apply" the brakes immediately after touchdown or in other situations where hard braking is needed, such as a rejected takeoff.

In addition to the PC-12, the system is approved by the FAA for the Eclipse EA500/550 and Beechcraft King Air B300. Additonal FAA approval for eABS on the King Air B200 is expected next month. Advent also plans to certify its eABS on PC-12s and King Airs in Canada, Australia and Europe, with other countries to follow based on demand. Eclipse Aerospace (now absorbed into One Aviation) had previously certified the EA500/550 equipped with eABS in several countries.
