Teledyne Technologies subsidiary Gill Batteries (Teledyne Battery Products) has received FAA parts manufacturer approval (PMA) for its new generation 7000-series sealed lead-acid battery for Cessna Citations. The PMA approval, valid for all Citations—including the Model 500, 501, 525, 525A, 525B, 525C, 550, 551, S550, 560, 560XL, 650, 680 and 750—is a direct replacement for Ni-Cad and other lead-acid batteries. According to the Redlands, California-based manufacturer, it will provide more residual power after start up and has a longer interval (18 months or 1,800 hours) before initial capacity check.
“We are excited to now be able to offer this advanced battery to operators of the 6,800 Cessna Citations in operation around the world,” said Gill Batteries general manager Armando Chacon. “All these Citation owner-operators now have options to increase efficiency and performance while reducing the maintenance costs of their aircraft.” He added the 7000LT offers higher capacity, requires less routine maintenance and costs less than competing batteries.
