New Hampshire-based MRO provider Pro Star Aviation has completed the first installation of an Advent Aircraft Systems eABS anti-skid brake system on a 300-series Beechcraft King Air. The modification was performed on a King Air 350i for a customer looking to equip its turboprop twins with ABS technology similar to that found on its jets to allow easier transition for pilots between the aircraft.
“The Advent eABS system is the first ABS for airplanes with unpowered brakes, like the King Air 350,” said Thomas Grunbeck, Advent’s vice president of marketing and sales. “It seamlessly integrates with the airplane.”
According to Pro Star, the Advent eABS dealer for the Northeast, the modification takes approximately 10 days to complete. “Until recently, this product wasn’t available to the turboprop market, but with the level of improved braking performance it provides during adverse weather conditions and when encountering unforeseen contamination on runways, it has a lot to offer pilots in regards to safety,” said Pro Star sales manager Dan Hodgins.
Besides the King Air 300/350, Advent’s eABS system is already approved for the Eclipse EA500/550. STC approvals for the King Air B200 and Pilatus PC-12 are pending.
