Tamarack Aerospace is bringing two veteran business aviation executives—Justin Ryan and Charlie Johnson—on board its senior leadership team. Ryan, who most recently was president of Honeywell Aerospace’s BendixKing unit, is taking the role of president of the company; Johnson, a former president and COO of Cessna, will lead business development. Founder Nick Guida, meanwhile, remains CEO.
Ryan spent the past 10 years at Honeywell Aerospace, holding roles that included vice president of strategic marketing and planning. He further led the company’s business with Airbus and other European customers. In addition to Honeywell, Ryan worked for McKinsey & Co. and was COO of a software services start-up. He was a naval aviator and holds aeronautical engineering degrees from MIT and an MBA from Wharton.
Citing his track record in the industry, Guida said Ryan “is a successful leader who brings a wealth of experience along with a reputation for growing new business, strengthening customer relationships and developing organizations. Justin will be an important team member as we continue to accelerate our growth at Tamarack.”
Johnson has a 35-year background in the industry. Most recently he was interim CEO of XTI, a startup venture that is developing the TriFan 600, and has led Aero Electric Aircraft Corporation, another startup he helped found with George Bye. Johnson held numerous leadership roles at Cessna, culminating in president and COO from 1997 to 2003. A former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, he also has served as chief pilot for Arnold Palmer, chief of production flight test at Learjet and aviation manager for Koch Industries.
“Charlie is a legend in the industry with a stellar track record leading Cessna,” said Guida. “His deep engagement with the business jet community will enable him to drive broad adoption of Tamarack active winglets.”
