FlightSafety clients will soon be able to train like they fly in a Citation 550 simulator equipped with a JetTech Garmin GTN 650/750 upgrade.

FlightSafety International has selected a JetTech Citation avionics upgrade for its Citation 550 full-flight simulator. The move will allow clients who fly Citation 550s equipped with the JetTech upgrade to learn in a more familiar environment.

The upgrade adds Garmin GTN 650/750 touchscreen GPS/nav/com units to the Citation 550 along with Garmin’s voice-activated GMA 35 audio panel and ADS-B OUT/IN transceiver.

Another benefit for training clients is that they will be able to practice flying autopilot-coupled LPV WAAS approaches in the 550 simulator.

"We have many aircraft owner and operator customers who have installed our solution and now have access to a simulator training platform,” said Rob Irwin, JetTech founder and member/manager.

JetTech also announced at AEA 2017 that the FAA has approved its STC to install the GTN 650/750 in the CitationJet 525, 525A and 525B equipped with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics and FGC-3000 autopilots. This STC also includes Garmin’s GMA 35 audio panel and uses the Garmin GTX 33, 3000 or 335/345 ADS-B transponder for ADS-B OUT (and ADS-B IN for certain transponders). The installation adds autopilot-coupled LPV WAAS approaches, and according to JetTech, all CJ models, from the CJ1 throught the CJ3, can now be retrofitted with this package.

Autopilot-coupled LPV WAAS approach capability is also now available for the Honeywell Primus 1000-equipped Citation Bravo, Ultra, Encore and Excel. For the Citation 500, JetTech offers Garmin G600 and GTN 650/750 upgrades, which include WAAS approvals.
