The city of Fort Worth and American Aero FTW held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a renovated 85,000-sq-ft administration building at Meacham International Airport that was a result of a public/private partnership. American AeroFTW, which is a Signature Select location, will be the prime tenant in the newly opened facility.
The city primarily funded the makeover with an investment by American Aero FTW, which is owned by Robert Bass.
“The city’s commitment to rebuild the terminal and invest in upgrading the airport created the opportunity to partner with the city to make Meacham International Airport a major gateway,” Bass said.
“This is a significant transformation for the airport…and American Aero FTW has played a key role in making it happen,” added Jeff Kloska, city of Fort Worth assistant director of aviation and manager of the airport.
American Aero FTW’s new facilities in the building will include modern passenger lounges and fully equipped conference rooms, along with pilot and crew lounges that include a large-screen smart TV, fully reclining seating, work stations, a soundproof sleep room, shower, kitchen and flight-planning room.
The company added new technology, such as intelligent electrochromic windows that automatically tint to reduce heat while maximizing natural light; sound masking; and a wireless fuel meter system for on-ramp transactions.
The new terminal follows the recent addition of three new hangars that more than doubled its hangar space.
