GDC Technics Earns FAA ODA
The award will give the Texas-based completions specialist more independence and flexibility in dealing with FAA approvals.

Interiors completion specialist GDC Technics has been awarded organization designation authorization (ODA) by the FAA, which will allow the Fort Worth, Texas-based company to work through the majority of the aircraft modification certification process with its unit members and internal quality systems, on the FAA’s behalf. As such, the company will now have much more authority than it normally would have, according to GDC Group CEO Charles Celli.

“I think one of the most important pieces is the FAA is confident in our facility, processes and ability to work in the highest quality, highest safety environment,” Celli told AIN. “We join a very elite group of modification centers that have the ODA designation.” The company also has a similar design-organizational-approvals (DOA) designation from EASA.

“We can perform a majority of the functions with minimal FAA oversight,” he said. “Ultimately, as we gain in delegations within our ODA, we’ll be able to issue our own [STCs]. But initially, we’re going to rely on a element of FAA support as we confirm our processes.”
