Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems has introduced two new products in its EmPower cabin line. The new dual-frequency converter supports up to 10 cabin power outlets and offers 115 VAC/60 Hz or 220 VAC/50 Hz, thus covering most of the power supply requirements for Western Hemisphere, Japan and Taiwan operators as well as those in Europe and most other parts of the world. The new converter is available for forward-fit installation in new aircraft or as a retrofit and provides up to 4 kW of clean, continuous power, according to Astronics.
The company also announced a lighter-weight version of its in-seat power supply USB outlet, which runs off 28 VDC power and provides 5 VDC at 2.1 amps to power and charge portable electronic devices. The new EmPower 1428 USB outlet includes an internal backlight and safety features such as “input circuit protection, output voltage limiting, output current limiting, output short circuit protection and thermal limiting.”
