Jet Edge Commits More Aircraft Capacity to JetSmarter
Charter membership program JetSmarter has now committed to buy around $550 million worth of fight hours from Jet Edge.

Jet Edge International has extended its agreement with charter membership platform JetSmarter to provide additional large-cabin business aircraft capacity. The added aircraft will support a new option that allows travelers to arrange customized rideshare shuttle services between cities such as Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Dallas and Chicago, as well as other destinations in Florida and California. Under a deal announced last week, JetSmarter has committed to up to $200 million in flights over several years. It follows an agreement in March covering $350 million in flight hours in support of JetSmarter’s core services and its new “shared charter” option.

“Because the ridesharing market is an emerging industry segment with superior growth potential, we have decided to invest early in this model alongside JetSmarter,” said Jet Edge CEO Bill Papariella. “This expanded agreement provides significant and predictable revenue for our current fleet aircraft owners and enables us to create enticing aircraft management products and offerings completely unique to Jet Edge.”

According to Los Angeles-based Jet Edge, ridesharing and shuttle services have boosted utilization of its fleet by as much as 40 percent this year. The company forecasts that its 47-aircraft fleet (32 large/15 super-midsize jets) is set to log more than 15,000 hours this year.
