Aircraft Performance Group today released a new version of its iPreFlight aircraft performance iPad app with a new weight-and-balance real-time curtailment feature. This new functionality allows operators to meet the regulatory requirements for adjusting the aircraft manufacturers’ certified center of gravity envelope to account for loading variations and in-flight movements during normal aircraft operations.
The new real-time curtailment feature allows operators to comply with the guidelines in FAA Advisory Circular 120-27E. Among the items considered are passengers, fuel, fluids, in-flight movement of passengers and crew, movement of flaps and landing gear and random seating.
With iPreFlight, curtailments are calculated for the actual load on the airplane and are applied in real-time, thus avoiding the “overly restrictive c.g. envelope” under fixed curtailment solutions that are based solely on worst-case conditions, the company said. “This new functionality will alleviate the need to jump to third-party, stand-alone apps or calculation methods for determining weight-and-balance curtailments,” said Aircraft Performance Group CEO Mike Caflisch. “iPreFlight tightly integrates weight-and-balance real-time curtailment with runway analysis calculations in a single app.”
While the app is free at the Apple AppStore, users must be an existing APG customer with a runway analysis and weight-and-balance services account.
