BP has named company veteran Jon Platt to succeed David Gilmour as CEO of its global aviation business, Air BP. Gilmour, who has led Air BP since 2013, is taking the new position of vice president at BP Group Technology, where he will be responsible for technology commercialization and venturing, along with strategy, planning and communities.
Platt, who has served with BP for more than 27 years, steps into his new position on October 1. He joined BP in 1989 as a chemical engineer in refinery and petrochemicals operations and later held roles in commercial, corporate head office, finance, strategy and business leadership in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. Previously CEO of BP’s global liquid petroleum gas business and CFO for its global petrochemicals business, Platt also has held roles as commercial v-p of fuels and head of strategy and portfolio.
