GAMA Promotes Bowles, Sambiase; Adds To Brussels Office
Bowles served as industry co-chair of Part 23 rewrite committee.

GAMA promoted two of its key policy experts and brought in additional technical expertise in its Brussels office. Greg Bowles, who joined GAMA in 2005 and has played an instrumental role in the effort to rewrite FAR Part 23 regulations, was named v-p of global innovation and policy. Joe Sambiase, who joined GAMA in 2010 to handle regulatory issues surrounding maintenance and airworthiness, was promoted to director of maintenance and airworthiness. And Kyle Martin is joining GAMA as director of European regulatory affairs.

In his new role, Bowles will focus on emerging general aviation technologies, including electric and hybrid propulsion, as well as the design, manufacture and certification of new general aviation products and capabilities. Bowles, who had been director of European regulatory affairs and engineering, was the industry co-chair of the Part 23 Reorganization Aviation Rulemaking Committee.

Sambiase, who had been a manager, will continue to steer activities surrounding maintenance, airworthiness and production regulatory requirements, as well as international standardization. Before joining GAMA he held roles with Compass Airlines, US Airways, Independence Air and Jet Aircraft Maintenance.

Martin, who is based in Brussels, joins GAMA from the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD), where he was civil aviation manager and represented the interests of the European civil aviation manufacturing sector. He also has served as a project systems engineer and whole engine design engineer for Rolls-Royce in the UK.
