Duncan Aviation STCs ADS-B for Hawker 800/Hawker 800XP
The company is installing new RM-855s in place of the aircraft's legacy RM-850.

Duncan Aviation recently completed a supplemental type certificate (STC) to upgrade existing Honeywell Primus avionics in the Hawker 800/800XP so they are ADS-B OUT compliant.

“Many Hawkers still have the legacy RM-850 RMUs. Honeywell has replaced it with the RM-855, which features a bright, new LCD screen. While you’re in here getting your ADS-B upgrade, we’ll install a new RM-855 in place of your RM-850, which has no capability path to ADS-B compliance,” said Chris Christianson, avionics installation tech rep. On Jan. 1, 2020, flight restrictions begin in the U.S. at 10,000 feet and above and down to as low as 3,500 feet, depending on location, for aircraft that are not equipped with ADS-B OUT. "You’re basically grounding yourself if you don’t meet this mandate,” he added.

As part of Duncan Aviation's STC development program for the aircraft, the company is offering 50 percent off a new or existing Honeywell Avionics Protection Program (HAPP) in the first year, as well as 25 percent off the second and third year each of HAPP plan. This offer is for Hawker 800/800XP operators who install ADS-B OUT using this STC. These savings can amount to more than $50,000 for a typical corporate flight department, Duncan Aviation said.
