Bombardier’s customer-service team has bundled a package to make it easier for Challenger 300 operators to upgrade their cabin management systems. Late last year, the Canadian airframer partnered with Lufthansa Technik on a comprehensive CMS upgrade, including replacing the single standard-definition monitor with two (forward and aft) 20-inch high-definition smart display screens and adding Blu-ray, among other media upgrades. Now Bombardier has sweetened the deal by bundling the upgrade with upcoming 96-month inspections. The CMS upgrade can be added to the required service with no further downtime, it said.
The work can be performed at any of Bombardier’s seven service centers in Amsterdam; Dallas; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Hartford, Conn.; Singapore; Tucson, Ariz.; or Wichita. The two new screens include internal decoding for noise-free, high-resolution video. The media center has a USB port for playback on the forward and aft displays; HDMI for connecting to consumer devices (such as Xbox) on the forward display; and updated compatibility to interface with current industry standard audio and video formats, including .mp.4, .mov and .wmv. The software update also includes an advanced color graphical user interface.
