Baltic Air Charter Association (BACA) members operated 147,000 flights to 1,259 airports and 146 countries last year, a recent survey revealed. The association recently commissioned WingX Advance to study the activities of its membership and found that 67 percent of the association’s 220 members are brokers or charter companies that operate 719 aircraft.
The survey provided a picture of the size and activities of the BACA membership. “The sheer quantity of flights conducted and revenue generated clearly illustrates the positive impact that BACA members contribute to the international economy,” said BACA chairman Tony Koe.
Large jets account for 240 of the aircraft in the fleet, and 34 percent of the fleet is used for passenger and cargo operations. The busiest aircraft in the fleet are the Citation Excel/XLS and Global Express. The BACA member companies generated €4.2 billion last year and employ 6,751 people.
“BACA clearly represents a diverse range of operators, brokers and aviation professionals, with membership spanning Europe, North America, Australasia and Russia,” said WingX managing director Richard Koe. “Our study indicates that BACA operators are connecting more than 25,000 airport pairs across 146 countries. This activity generated almost €100 million in fuel, handling and passenger fees last year.”
