CRJ200s Expand Charter Role for Iraq's Energy Sector
Iraq Gate is now operating three Bombardier CRJ200 regional jets to provide transportation to and from Iraqi oil and gas fields.

Corporate charter provider Iraq Gate is now using three Bombardier CRJ200 regional airliners to fly workers to and from oil and gas facilities across Iraq. The Baghdad-based operator is a joint venture with Jordan’s Arab Wings, which bought the twinjets from an undisclosed third party. Iraq Gate plans to start some international flights in the future.

Arab Wings’s Amman-based fleet already includes three Bombardier Challenger 604s and one Global 5000. “The excellent economics of the CRJ200 regional jet are ideally suited to meet the increasing transportation needs of Iraq’s active oil and gas sector,” said CEO Ahmad Abu Ghazaleh. “As the first business jet operator in Iraq, Iraq Gate is now benefitting from the addition of the dependable and reliable CRJ200 as it offers scheduled, charter and ad hoc services throughout the country.”

Bombardier has around 70 CRJ Series aircraft operating across the Middle East and Africa, as well as 130 of its Q Series twin turboprops. These include corporate charter operations, such as Abu Dhabi Aviation.
