Cutter Aviation has purchased the Atlantic Aviation FBO at Arizona’s Deer Valley Airport, consolidating its position at the Phoenix-area gateway, where it is now the lone full-service provider. The move doubles Cutter’s leasehold on the airport, to nearly 20 acres, and boosts its hangar space to approximately 50,000 sq ft, which can accommodate the latest class of ultra-long-range business jets. The location also gained an additional 30,000-gallon fuel tank farm and 12,000 sq ft of office space currently occupied by one of the two large flight schools on the field.
“As the busiest GA airport in the U.S. for 2014, we feel this is an excellent opportunity for us and all of our employees,” said Will Cutter, president and CEO of the family-owned business, which has bases at eight airports in five Western U.S. states. “We feel this acquisition enhances our ability to more effectively compete and gain business from flight departments currently utilizing other local airports.”
Cutter will continue to operate both locations at the airport and intends to integrate the former Atlantic employees into its operation. The company will relocate its customer facilities and CSR staff to the newly acquired 2,500-sq-ft terminal to open up more tenant space. As part of the approval process with the airport authority, Cutter has committed to building a new multimillion-dollar, state-of-the-art FBO at Deer Valley. It expects to break ground on the facility within the next year, as it negotiates a new lease extension.
