Duncan Aviation in Brazil
U.S. service network has solid ties in Brazilian market

Family-owned and -operated since its establishment as an aircraft sales company in 1956, Duncan Aviation has become one of the most respected aviation services companies in the world, its portfolio including MRO, sales, aircraft-on-ground support and FBOs. Duncan Aviation’s three principal MRO facilities at Battle Creek, Michigan; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Provo, Utah hold authorizations from the world’s major business aircraft manufacturers. They provide a wide range of maintenance, repair and overhaul services–including deep inspection and refurbishment–for airframes, avionics and engines/APUs.

Brazil is an important market for Duncan Aviation, the biggest in South America. Regional Manager Allan Orsi is based in the SĂŁo Paulo district, with the task of establishing and maintaining contact with customers, and matching their needs to the capabilities of Duncan Aviation. The company reports that its business has held up well in Brazil, despite the economic climate.

A factor is that most of the company’s customers in Brazil operate the larger business jets. Many of the jobs comprise multi-shop tasks that utilize the many facilities that Duncan Aviation has at its three MRO shops. Jobs such as a new or repaired paint scheme can be combined with inspections, upgrades and servicing, all tasks being completed in a single trip to one of the U.S. facilities.

Although Duncan Aviation performs MRO duties on smaller aircraft, for the Brazilian fleet it makes less sense due to the ferrying distances involved and the down-times incurred, unless the job is a major multi-shop task.

To fulfill MRO requirements from South American countries–and elsewhere– Duncan Aviation employs a specialist team to ensure that the work is tailored to meet the authorizations and certification procedures that prevail in the country where the aircraft is registered, and to comply with all documentation requirements. The company also works closely with the OEMs and other service centers to provide the best possible service for its customers.
