Garmin’s Team X announced the new GPS 20A ADS-B Out-compliant Waas GPS for the experimental and light sport aircraft markets. While not certified, the GPS 20A meets the performance requirements of the FAA TSO for the ADS-B Out GPS receiver, and thus the new GPS can be used in ADS-B Out installations for the experimental and LSA markets to meet the 2020 ADS-B Out mandate. The GPS 20A is “compatible with a wide range of 1090 ES transponders, so customers have an economical path to meet the ADS-B Out position requirements of 14 CFR 91.227,” according to Garmin. This includes compatible non-Garmin transponders. Price for the GPS 20A is $845 or $1,225 with antenna and installation kit.

Team X also released the new GMC 307 autopilot control panel, which adds heading and altitude select knobs. GMC 305 owners can easily upgrade to the 307, as the connector and wiring are identical. The GMC 307 retails for $1,099.

Other new additions to Garmin’s experimental avionics line include the GSU 25B high-performance ADAHRS, which is designed for airplanes that fly faster than 300 kias and up to 465 kias. The $1,499 GSU 25B interfaces with G3X and G3X Touch displays and provides air data, attitude, heading and angle of attack information.
