DTC DUATS Warns of Possible Shutdown on July 16
the FAA “intends to shut down DTC’s connections" that allow it to provide aviation weather briefings and file flight plans.

DTC DUAT is warning customers that it might not be able to provide aviation weather briefings and file flight plans after July 16, when the FAA “intends to shut down DTC’s connections that allow us to file flight plans with the ARTCCs and AFSS system, as well as provide the complete weather data required to provide weather briefings.” In May, the FAA awarded a new contract to Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) and Lockheed Martin for services previously provided by CSC and Data Transformation (DTC).

DTC has pursued a two-pronged approach to keep providing DUAT services. It filed a formal protest with the FAA's Office of Dispute Resolution for Acquisition (ODRA), disputing the contract awarded in May. In addition, the company made plans to continue operating the DTC DUAT as a privately funded system, submitting a formal request to the FAA for sustained access to the NADIN and WMSCR networks, which provide public aviation weather data and flight plan filing capabilities.

On July 8, the FAA informed DTC that it will not act on DTC’s request to maintain access to the NADIN/WMSCR networks until the protest is resolved.
