HondaJet Sustains Minor Damage in Tire Incident
First conforming HondaJet suffered a blown tire after landing.

On June 11, HondaJet N420HJ suffered a blown tire after landing at Tulsa International Airport, according to Honda Aircraft. The jet, the first conforming HondaJet, “sustained minor scratches and damage,” a Honda Aircraft spokeswoman told AIN. The HondaJet is equipped with anti-skid brakes, but “Honda Aircraft was not testing the anti-skid or emergency braking systems when the tire blew,” she said.

The HondaJet received FAA provisional certification in March, and Honda has been finishing up flight trials required for full approval. Full type certification is anticipated in the next few months, with production certification following shortly thereafter. Honda expects to earn EASA certification later this year.
