Gulfstream Turns Expansion Efforts To Long Beach
Gulfstream to add nearly 30,000 sq ft to a facility that has already tripled in size over the past three decades.

Gulfstream is once again expanding the maintenance and support space at its facility in Long Beach, Calif. The expansion, which will include a 19,000-sq-ft maintenance hangar and another 10,000 sq ft of support and office space, is expected to accommodate the addition of 50 jobs in Gulfstream’s product support organization. The new hangar will be large enough to fit three large-cabin Gulfstreams at once, with accompanying ramp space for up to 10 aircraft. Gulfstream anticipates the new hangar will be operational by late summer.

Gulfstream acquired the Long Beach site in 1986 and calls the location the anchor of its U.S. West Coast operations. Initially it used the facility primarily as a completions center for the Gulfstream IV/IV-SP and employed 100 workers. Gulfstream has since expanded the facility and its capabilities several times, tripling its space and bolstering the workforce to 900. In addition to completions, the center provides maintenance and other product support. Last year its technicians worked on more than 1,000 aircraft at the facility or through mobile services.
