FAA Awards New Duats Contract To Lockheed Martin, CSC
Lockheed Martin takes on services formerly provided by Data Transformation (DTC).

The FAA is shifting courses on Direct User Access Terminal Service (Duats), awarding a new contract to Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and Lockheed Martin for services previously provided by CSC and Data Transformation (DTC). The contract is for one year with four one-year extensions, according to third-party flight planning provider iFlightPlanner.

The FAA announced in October that it would conduct a limited competition to replace the CSC/DTC contracts, which had been operating under short-term extensions while the FAA conducted the competition. The agency also this year extended Lockheed Martin’s contract to run the Automated Flight Service Station (AFSS) network by up to 42 months while it finalizes its requirements for the new Future Flight Service Program, expected to integrate AFSS services with other services such as Duats.

iFlightPlanner said the change in contract will not affect its flight-planning services that have used the CSC Duats, but that it will explore the possibility of additional functionality offered by Lockheed Martin.
