SkyVector Adds FAA Flight Plan Filing Capability
Preferred and recently-filed routes will also be available and suggested to users before filing.

Online flight planner SkyVector is adding flight plan filing capability, it announced on Tuesday at the Sun ’n’ Fun International Fly-In and Expo in Lakeland, Fla. The newest addition to SkyVector’s offerings is in beta test, and SkyVector is offering a sneak peek of the feature this week at the Signature Flight Support booth (MD-12/13). SkyVector teamed with Signature to provide pilot services at the airshow.

“The addition of filing will be just one of the many features associated with the advanced flight planning suite available to users of SkyVector. We’re pleased to introduce it at this year’s Sun ’n’ Fun,” said SkyVector founder David Graves.

Initially, filing flight plans via SkyVector will be available within the continental U.S. at no cost to users. Preferred and recently filed routes will also be available and suggested to users before filing.

Users also will be able to launch a logged, legal weather briefing in a separate window, as well as calculate aircraft performance. Additional features—such as the ability to file via the SkyVector app, FBO notification of arrivals and international filing to select markets—are in the works.
