Quest Aircraft (Display MD-032B) is again exhibiting at this year’s Sun ’n’ Fun International Fly-in and Expo, displaying two Kodiak turboprop singles, one of which features the now-standard Garmin GFC 700 autopilot. The company’s appearance this week in Lakeland, Fla., comes just one week after the Kodiak made its European airshow debut at Aero Friedrichshafen.
Both of the Quest airplanes on display at Sun ’n’ Fun are outfitted with the Timberline interior, one of three interiors available. Last year, Quest debuted its then newly certified Summit Executive interior at Sun ’n’ Fun 2014. “Whether customers want a rugged workhorse or a comfortable passenger transport for business or personal use, the Kodiak is the right aircraft for their mission,” said Quest president and CEO Sam Hill.
Meanwhile, Quest is nearing FAA STC approval for Aerocet composite amphibious floats for the Kodiak, a spokeswoman told AIN. The Aerocet 6650 floats, which eliminate the problem of corrosion and leaks inherent with aluminum, received TSO approval in late March and are being test flown on three Kodiaks. Quest is also working to obtain EASA approval for the Kodiak under a new streamlined certification approach announced by the agency last year, she said.
