Comlux Receives FAA Nod for Fans on Challenger 601
The approval is Comlux’s second STC for Fans.
Four companies celebrated the new Challenber 601 STC at the Aircraft Electronics Association convention in Dallas. Posing with the STC are (left to right): Adam Tsakanos, ICG; Kim Stephenson, senior manager, aftermarket sales, L-3; Cory Kolman, West Coast regional sales manager, Comlux; Vic Hagner, avionics manager, Comlux; Tim Rayl, senior v-p, sales and marketing, ICG; and Bruce Bunevich, Great Lakes regional sales manager for Universal Avionics.

Comlux America has received FAA certification for the first Future Air Navigation System (Fans) installation on a Challenger 601. This is Comlux’s second Fans supplemental type certificate, after the company’s Fans STC for the Challenger 600 series was issued in March. A second 601 Fans package is in the installation process at Comlux’s Indianapolis headquarters, and this one will be delivered this year.

The Challenger Fans STCs include equipment from Universal Avionics (SBAS-FMS and UniLink UL-800/801 Communications Management Unit), International Communications Group (NxtLink Iridium satcom) and L-3 Aviation Recorders (cockpit voice recorder).

“The Challenger CL-600 airframes represent a large segment of our services division,” said Scott Meyer, Comlux America CEO. “We are now able to offer our customers a solution that will allow them to operate in an environment that requires Fans and Link 2000+ capability.”
