Garmin today unveiled its Vantage line of ADS-B solutions covering general aviation aircraft from experimental airplanes to helicopters to business turboprops and jets. For the latter, Garmin is offering the GTX 3000 transponder paired with a Waas GPS position source provided by the GDL 88 ADS-B datalink. This enables position information to be broadcast on both ADS-B OUT frequencies. This solution is STC’d in the Gulfstream G150 and G200. STCs are under way for other business jets, including the Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP, Hawker 750, 800A/XP, 850XP, 900XP (Elliott Aviation); Citation V (Executive Aircraft Maintenance); and Learjet 60, Learjet 35A (Butler National). The Vantage business jet solution eliminates the need to upgrade the FMS or cockpit displays.
For aircraft equipped with Garmin integrated flight decks, “we have not yet completed the integration with the G1000, G2000, G3000 and G5000,” the company stated. “Garmin continues work to update software to support ADS-B. Once this work is complete, airframe manufacturers may begin to incorporate the GDL 88 ADS-B datalink products into a Garmin Integrated Flight Deck.”
Specific solutions for a variety of aircraft, including pricing, can be viewed on Garmin’s installation planner website, and Garmin is hosting online ADS-B webinars beginning March 18.
